In the context of the global energy transition, the offshore wind power industry in Asia is booming, and countries have increased investment and construction of offshore wind power in order to occupy a leading position in the field of green energy. The 7th Asia Offshore Wind Energy Conference and Offshore Energy Whole Industry Chain Expo (OWA2024) will be held in Shanghai from October 30 to 31, to discuss the latest developments in the Asian offshore wind industry and the revolutionary progress of floating technology.
As an important promoter of offshore wind power in Asia, China's provinces and cities have laid out offshore wind power projects. The Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission has planned 29.3GW of offshore wind projects, which are expected to provide about 100 billion KWH of green electricity per year. Yancheng City in Jiangsu Province aims to become the world's offshore wind power capital, with plans to reach 10.5GW of installed wind power by the end of 2025. The provinces of Zhejiang, Shandong, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Liaoning are also actively promoting offshore wind projects with large planned installations.
At the same time, other emerging markets in Asia such as Vietnam, the Philippines, India, South Korea and Japan also show great potential in the offshore wind sector. Vietnam plans to develop 28GW of wind power by 2030, of which offshore wind will account for a significant share. The Philippines is rich in sea breeze resources and plans to develop 21GW of offshore wind power by 2040. India aims to achieve a cumulative installed capacity of 140GW of wind power by 2030, of which offshore wind will reach 40GW. South Korea, Japan and the Netherlands have also set ambitious offshore wind development targets.
In this context, the 7th Asia Offshore Wind Conference 2024 will bring together industry leaders, decision makers, experts and scholars from more than 20 countries and regions in Europe, North America and Asia to discuss key topics such as trends, policies, technologies, supply chains, investment business models, and international cooperation and localization in the Asian offshore wind market. The conference will set up a number of sub-forums focusing on cutting-edge topics such as wind power technology innovation and operation and maintenance optimization, emerging offshore wind power markets in Asia, integrated development of Marine economy and energy, and floating offshore wind power technology innovation.
The opening ceremony and main forum on the morning of October 30 will take the theme of "Chain Moving the World - Wind Rising Asia: Asian Offshore Wind Power Strategic Dialogue" as an in-depth discussion of the strategic direction and development path of Asian offshore wind power. The afternoon sub-forum will focus on wind power technology innovation and operation and maintenance optimization, and the summit dialogue on the emerging offshore wind power market in Asia. The Marine Economy and Energy Integration Development Forum on the morning of October 31 will discuss diversified topics such as the integration and development of offshore wind power and wave energy, floating photovoltaic, hydrogen production, energy storage, and market mechanism setting. The all-day floating offshore wind power Technology Innovation Forum will focus on the key links of floating technology innovation, project cost control, investment and financing, commercialization and industrialization.
The conference is not only a platform to exchange ideas and share experience, but also an important opportunity to promote the development of the offshore wind industry in Asia. We look forward to working with industry elites from around the world to witness and shape the future of the global Marine energy market. 2024 The 7th Asian Ocean Wind Energy Conference, looking forward to working with you!
